Landscaping Job Duties - Landscaping Employment

Stories from the Field

Meet Chris Andrews

Landscape Designer

Landscape design is all about taking conceptual ideas from clients and transforming them into real life Monets.

Whether it’s a 20 floor high rise or an 80-home homeowners’ association, the expectations are always the same: to create a green space that brings the property to life.

A well-designed landscape makes for a great first impression. The use of different color combinations of flowering material creates a personality for the property that brings homeowners, co-workers, and clients a sense of pride. I am just lucky enough to be able to be the person to design that personality.

Growing up, I had never knew that jobs in the horticulture field existed or that it was even an option to study. I knew I was interested in science-based studies but had no idea where that was going to take me. During my sophomore year of college, I took an entrance level horticulture class. I saw the passion my professor had for the subject and fell in love with the idea of not being confined to a desk job.

We have a responsibility to take care of our planet, and I get to play a part in doing that every day.
